Public meeting held for input on proposed walking trail in Conway

Conway Parks, Recreation and Tourism held a public meeting Thursday night as part of an extensive application process for a grant to install a new walking trail in the city.

The RTP trail grant would cover the majority of the cost for the project that includes a 2,500 foot paved trail suitable for walking, jogging, and cycling at the Conway Recreation Complex.

Some of the concerns voiced at the meeting were whether the trail would be lit and the possibility of added fitness equipment along the trail, according to CPRE director Foster Hughes.

Although fitness equipment is not covered by the grant, Hughes hopes that could be a possibility in the future.

The trail will be lit from stadium lights already at the recreation complex, Hughes said.

A decision on the grant should be made by October.
