The Summerville Police Department will host a press conference for the Myrtle Beach Police Department at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to a release from Summerville police, the conference is about the shooting that took place on Saturday, May 24 around 11 p.m. at the Bermuda Sands motel.

The victims killed in that shooting were Jamie Williams, 28, of Ladson, Devonte Dantzler, 21, of Summerville, and Sandy Gaddis Barnwell, 22, of Summerville. Another man was also injured in the shooting. All the victims lived in the Summerville area, north-west of Charleston, according to the release.

According to the release, Myrtle Beach police responded to a report of a large fight in the street in front of the motel and before they arrived three shots were fired, striking one man. While officers were tending to that man multiple shots were fired on the second floor of the motel. The shots fired on the second floor of the motel resulted in the deaths of Williams, Dantzler and Barnwell.

The press conference will be held at 300 West 2nd North Street in Summerville.

This was one of several shootings that took place over Memorial Day weekend, the same weekend as the Atlantic Beach Bikefest. The violence has led to calls for increased security during that weekend moving forward, as well as for Bikefest to come to an end.

We will have a reporter at the press conference and will post updates on as soon as possible.
