Preliminary damages for Windsor Green fire estimated at $15 million

Preliminary damages for last month's Windsor Green condominium fire in the Carolina Forest area of Horry County are estimated at $15 million, according to Scott Hawkins, spokesman for the S.C. Forestry Commission.

Hawkins said investigators have ruled out campfires, lightning or any other weather-related causes.

He explained that the fire was most likely caused by human activity, but what type of activity remains unknown.

Because of the lack of any leads, investigators consider the case closed unless a new lead comes up, according to Hawkins.
