Pollution contamination lawsuit receives class action status

A judge has ruled the pollution contamination lawsuit against a Myrtle Beach company can be a class action suit.

Judge Larry Hyman says as many as 229 property owners near the AVX Corporation on 17th Avenue South in Myrtle Beach can join the suit.

AVX is accused of contaminating the groundwater with an industrial de-greaser, trichloroethylene (TCE), that's been linked to health problems.

TCE was used in the 1970's and 80's.
