Police: won't stop searching until we find missing swimmer

Friday, Myrtle Beach police restarted their recovery efforts for a teen who disappeared in the ocean Wednesday.

The effort is no longer a search, but now a recovery mission. Crews suspend their searches at night as they say there are not enough lit areas to see well.

The 18-year-old swimmer was in the ocean around 24th Ave North with friends when he began to struggle in the water. Witnesses say he eventually went under and never resurfaced.

Myrtle Beach Police Capt. David Knipes says authorities will not stop searching Lifeguard services are also assisting in the effort.
