Police: Two men stole thousands from a safe, bought cars and took trips

Terry Lance Walls

Bennettsville police have charged Sabree Craig and Terry Lance Walls with Safecracking, Burglary First Degree and Grand Larceny.

Lt. Larry Turner with Bennettsville Police said the men broke into a home on Palmetto Street in Bennettsville last weekend and stole two safes containing about $92,000 in cash and bonds.

The men also stole a television, Turner added.

He said Craig used the stolen money to buy a 2014 $34,000 Dodge Charger from a car dealership and Walls purchased a $5,000 Mazda RX 8 off of Craigslist.

Sabree also went on shopping trips in Charlotte and Atlanta, Turner said.

He said an extensive investigation led them to Craig who confessed to the crime and went on to implicate Walls.

Both men are being held at the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office.

Turner said this investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.

Richmond County Sheriff's Office and Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office are helping in the investigation.
