Police say suspect "swallowed dope" after chase ended in wreck

Conway police spotted an armed robbery suspect at a gas station. They say he led them on a chase that ended when he wrecked his car on Liz Lane.

A man wanted for an armed robbery just before Christmas led Conway police on a chase before wrecking his car, Thursday afternoon.

A detective spotted the suspect at the Wilco gas station on Highway 378 and tried to stop him. The suspect fled in his car, heading away from Conway on Highway 378.

The chase ended when the suspect lost control of his car and wrecked on Liz Lane.

Sgt. Warren Larrimore said the suspect was taken to the hospital, not because he was hurt in the wreck, but because he's believed to have swallowed drugs he had in his possession.

We'll post more details as we get them.
