Police looking for man wanted for robbing Conway bank

The Conway Police Department has issued a warrant for the arrest of Richard James Cowart, 43, who is wanted for a bank robbery in Conway on Monday and the armed robbery of a CVS on Sunday in Myrtle Beach.

He is considered armed and dangerous and should be driving a red 1988 Ford Ranger with South Carolina license plate JNH904.

Police say Cowart robbed a teller at the BB&T Bank at 2300 Hwy 501 East in Conway around 9:10 Monday morning.

Employees told officers that he took money from a teller and took off running.

The attached photo of him was taken from surveillance video in the store.

Cowart is also wanted by Myrtle Beach police officers for two counts of armed robbery. An armed robbery was reported at CVS at 512 South Kings Highway on Sunday.

An armed robbery was also reported Sunday afternoon around 3:30 at Rite Aid at 7800 North Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach.

Two victims told officers Cowart went up to the cashier with a couple of items, then placed a handwritten note on the counter demanding money, according to the police report.

It said a store employee gave Cowart about $300 from the register and he took off.
