Police: Little River store owner fires shots at robber

Horry County police officers are looking for the man who ran out of a convenience store in Little River with a cash register, as the owner fired shots at him, according to an Horry County police incident report.

Officers got the call on Monday around 3 p.m. that a man was shooting his gun outside of the Tienda Mexican La Ideal store on the 1600 block of Highway 17 in Little River.

When officers arrived, they learned the man firing the shots was the owner and looked through surveillance video to see what happened.

They determined a man walked into the business wearing a ski mask, gloves and a black hoodie. When he tried to get behind the counter, the owner reached for his gun and the robber "picked up and ripped the cash register off the counter," according to the report.

Police said the owner of the store fired one round while still inside the business and chased the man out of the store. He fired three more rounds at the man as he ran off across Highway 17, according to the report.

An officer found the cash register in a nearby wooded area.

The man got away with $350 in cash.
