Police investigating deadly hit and run moped wreck in Surfside Beach

Police are looking for a SUV similiar to this one

Surfside Beach police are asking for the public's help finding a vehicle involved in a deadly hit and run moped wreck that happened Thursday around 10:30 p.m. on Highway 17 Business near 13th Avenue North.

Officials say the hit and run wreck involved a moped and a black SUV, possibly a Dodge Journey, similar to the one pictured above.

The moped driver, Billie Ann Waylon, 63, of the Myrtle Beach area, was killed in the crash, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden.

Surfside Beach police say the black SUV should have front passenger-side and undercarriage damage and was last seen heading northbound on Highway 17 toward Highway 544.
