Police investigate stabbing at hotel in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach police officers are investigating a stabbing in Myrtle Beach, according to a police report.

Officers were called to the Bay View Resort on the 500 block of North Ocean Boulevard Monday around 7 p.m.

The 37-year-old victim told officers he was stabbed in the leg while in an elevator at at the Sea Cove Hotel at 305 North Ocean Boulevard, according to Captain David Knipes with Myrtle Beach Police.

The victim was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for his injuries.

Officers found a razor knife in the suspect's pant pocket. He is listed as Gary Welch, 49, of Myrtle Beach, according to the police report.

Welch was arrested Monday and is being held at the Myrtle Beach Jail without bond.

He is charged with Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature.
