Pit bull bites man trying to rob woman at knife point

On Tuesday, a woman was robbed at knife point while walking her boyfriend's pit bull on the beach when the pit bull bit the man trying to rob her, according to a Myrtle Beach police report.

Police were called to an apartment off 76th Avenue North in reference to an armed robbery that had occurred on the beach where a man tried to rob the victim at knife point.

A 52-year-old woman was walking on the beach just off the 76th Ave. N beach access in the sand dunes when a man approached her wearing dark clothing and a ski mask, according to the report.

The suspect then pulled a knife out, held it to the victims throat, and ordered her to give him her cell phone and anything else she had, police said.

At this time, the victim's pit bull "became aggressive" and bit the suspect while he was attempting to rob her, the report stated.

Police said they are unclear where the suspect was bitten.

The suspect got away and Myrtle Beach police are still looking for him.

The suspect is described as being stocky, about 5'7" or 5'8".
