It will cost more than $1 million to cleanup the debris in the Pee Dee left from last week's snow and ice storm
, according to Florence County Emergency Management Director Dusty Owens
Emergency management officials in the Pee Dee released their estimated cleanup costs Tuesday.
Florence County is reporting the highest at $450,000
and that amount is expected to climb.
The counties will apply for public assistance from the federal government
in an effort to have about 75% of the cleanup cost covered by the government.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will reimburse the counties for other expenses during the first 70 hours of the winter storm including fuel for generators, employees' overtime, and equipment usage, Owens said.
