Saturday, more than 2,000 people are expected to take to the streets for the American Heart Association's Pee Dee Heart Walk at the SiMT at Florence-Darlington Technical College.
"It doesn't matter how you walk, just walk," said Sheryl Love, event organizer.
This year's fundraising goal for the Pee Dee Heart Walk is $375,000.
The one mile and three-mile walk starts at 10 a.m.
Walking has the lowest dropout rate of any physical activity, and physical inactivity doubles the risk of heart disease, the nation's number one killer, according to statistics released by the American Heart Association.
Funds raised from the Heart Walk support research, public health programs, and community education to fight heart disease and stroke.
