The driver of a car struck and killed a pedestrian on Powell Road in Georgetown County Monday morning, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.
A portion of Powell Road, near Goldfinch Road was closed to traffic for two hours while crews cleared the scene, Cpl. Sonny Collins said.
Collins said charges will not be filed against the driver of the vehicle because the pedestrian was at fault.
The name of the person who was killed has not been released.
