      Pedestrian killed in early morning crash

      Myrtle Beach police are investigating a deadly crash in the area of U.S. 17 Bypass and 48th Avenue North in Myrtle Beach.

      The wreck happened at 3:51 a.m. Friday.

      Shane Cary of Somerset, NJ, died on scene, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler.

      Cary was walking north in the northbound right lane when he was hit by a Chevy Impala traveling in the same direction.

      The driver of the Impala will not be charged because he didn't see the pedestrian until it was too late, according to a Myrtle Beach police report.

      U.S. 17 Bypass north bound lanes in the area were shut down for a couple of hours.
