Pedestrian hit by a car in Murrells Inlet

A pedestrian was hit by a car around 4:45 p.m. Thursday afternoon in Murrells Inlet on Highway 707 near McDowell Shortcut Road.
The person was walking on the shoulder on Highway 707 in Murrells Inlet at Vestry Drive, when a car lost control and hit the person, according to Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins with Highway Patrol.
The pedestrian was taken to the hospital. The person's name, age, and condition have not been released.
At the scene, a sneaker and a baby bottle were lying along side the road at the scene of the crash.
One lane of Highway 707 was blocked as Highway Patrol investigated.
Horry County Schools Spokesperson Teal Britton confirmed to NewsChannel 15 Thursday afternoon that a student was hit. This confirmation was given to NewsChannel 15 around the time of the pedestrian incident in Murrells Inlet.
HIghway Patrol spokesman Sonny Collins says the agency's special investigation team will be at the scene Friday morning to piece together what happened.
