Passenger numbers up at MYR in March

The Myrtle Beach International Airport saw an increase of almost 8 percent in passengers in March 2014 compared to March 2013.

This past March, 69,224 passengers arrived at the airport, 4

996 more than March 2013.

"The traffic levels in March are a good sign, indicating a strong spring air travel season" said Pat Apone, director of airports. "After two-months of traffic declines, directly related to severe weather in the Southeast, March passenger volumes have made-up for the lost traffic and the airport is now trending above last year's levels."

Year-to-date, the airport has welcomed 136,703 arriving passengers, or 2.45 percent more than same period last year.
