Part of Water Tower Road compromised by winter storm

Motorists are encouraged to avoid using Water Tower Road in both directions between Highway 22 and Highway 31, according to North Myrtle Beach officials.

Water under the roadway froze during the recent winter storm, causing the pavement to buckle and numerous potholes to appear, the city said in a news release.

The city is receiving bids for the repair of this stretch of road, but due to weather/temperature related requirements for the application of asphalt paving, repairs won't be made to the road until March or April, the release stated.

Anyone who has to use this stretch of road is being asked to do so with caution.
