Parents of 2-year-old who shot himself indicted after infant tests positive for drugs

The parents of a 2-year-old Horry County boy who accidentally shot himself on Christmas Day have been indicted on a charge connected to the boy's sister.

In February, Rondell Smith and Lakisha Brown were charged with Illegal Conduct toward a Child after their infant daughter tested positive for cocaine and marijuana.

The indictment was handed down this week.

Rondell Smith faces a charge of Involuntary Manslaughter.

On December 25, 2012, Smith's two-year-old son, Sincere, found a gun on a table in the family's home and shot himself in the chest.

He died on the way to the hospital.

The girl has been placed in protective custody.
