Palace: Duchess of Cambridge in labor
Mon, 22 Jul 2013 07:23:56 GMT —
"Things are progressing as normal." That's the word from a spokesman for Prince William and his wife Kate, after the Duchess of Cambridge went into labor this morning.
officials say the couple traveled by car to St. Mary's Hospital in central London without a police escort, just before 6 a.m. They entered through a side door, avoiding the world's media gathered on the street outside the private Lindo Wing of the hospital, where Princess Diana also gave birth to William and his younger brother, Prince Harry.
The queen has arrived at Buckingham Palace, the Associated Press added.
Kate will be looked after by a top-notch medical team led by royal gynecologist Dr. Marcus Setchell. Palace officials are not expected to provide many details about how her labor is progressing.
The baby will be third in line to become Britain's monarch, after Prince Charles and William.
The child will be the first for William and Kate, who married in 2011 after a long courtship.
