I-95 South in Lumberton back open after car carrier fire Friday morning
Lumberton, N.C. (WPDE) —
One lane of I-95 South at mile marker 23 was closed for several hours Friday morning following a fire involving a car carrier with nine cars, according to officials with Northwoods Fire Department.
Firefighters said eight of the nine cars burned.
Officials haven't said what caused the fire, but said traffic was pretty backed up.
As of around 10:30 a.m. lanes were reportedly back open.
The investigation is ongoing.
