Old Marion Highway safety checkpoint nets 32 charges

      Law enforcement from Florence and Marion counties set up a traffic safety checkpoint on Old Marion Highway Friday night that resulted in 32 charges.

      The checkpoint was between Jamestown Road and Deepwoods Road and was up from around 8:30 p.m. until abou 12:30 a.m. Saturday, according to a news release.

      The release said that 909 vehicles were stopped at the checkpoint and 32 charges or tickets were issued.

      The results of the checkpoint were:

      Open Container Violation 3

      Possession of Alcohol by Minor 1

      Vehicle License Violation 3

      Driving Under Suspension 6

      Driver's License Violation 8

      Child Restraint Violation 3

      Operating Uninsured Vehicle 1

      Possession of Marijuana 3

      Possession of Controlled Substances 2

      Other Criminal Violations 1
