Old DuPont plant fire ruled undetermined

Arson investigators with the Florence County Sheriff's Office say the cause of a fire that destroyed a building at the old DuPont plant in Florence County is undetermined.

Captain Michael Nunn says the volume of debris to be removed and the extent of destruction from the fire make it almost impossible to determine the origin and cause.

Investigators returned to the scene Wednesday, but couldn't get inside because of all the debris and hot spots still burning.

Two weeks ago, the 150,000 square foot facility building caught fire and was destroyed.

Fire officials say the fire is suspicious and called in the sheriff's office to use its resources to help investigate.

There was no power to the building and no one had been in it for three or four days, according to fire officials.
