North Myrtle Beach's Department of Public Safety is looking for James White, wanted for trying to break into his girlfriend's apartment in the Barefoot Resort area, according to city spokesman, Pat Dowling.

White is 35 years old, 160 lbs, and about 5-feet 10-inches tall. He's wearing a button down shirt and khaki pants.

There are warrants for his arrest on a charge of Burglary and Criminal Domestic Violence.

White broke into his girlfriend's home on March 27, got into an argument about their relationship status and then picked her up by her clothing and threw her on the floor, a police report states.

The victim told police White punched her in the stomach, back, and mouth. The couple left the home in a car, and the woman drove by a fire station in North Myrtle Beach blowing her horn to alert firefighters, the report says. The suspect jumped out of the car and fled on foot towards Barefoot Towers and he later took a taxi to Briarcliffe Acres to evade arrest, the report states.

The victim gave police a voluntary statement on another occasion that James broke into her house and took her cell phone while she was there.

Thursday's search began when police had reason to believe he had tried to break into the home again.

North Myrtle Beach police are no longer searching the woods in the Water Tower Road area for White. However, their active search for White in a variety of locations will continue until he is in custody.

Call police at 843-280-5511 if you have any information regarding White.
