North Myrtle Beach man accused of stomping on girlfriend's face

Derek Jordan Sanford, 26, of North Myrtle Beach faces charges of Kidnapping and Criminal Domestic Violence of a High and Aggravated Nature.

Horry County police arrested him early Sunday morning.

On Saturday, officers were called to Pinehurst Circle in Little River for a domestic violence call.

The victim answered the door while crying and had two black eyes that were almost swollen shut, according to the police report.

She also had a visible imprint of what appeared to be a shoe on her forehead.

Sanford told officers that he and his girlfriend were out drinking the night before and when they got home, they started arguing and the fight turned physical.

The victim said Sanford kicked her in the head and continued to punch her in the face. She said he also grabbed a chunk of her hair and ripped it out of her head.

Officers said there was a visible bald patch on her head.

The victim said Sanford broke her cell phone and wouldn't let her call anyone for help.

The victim contacted her brother on Facebook and he called police.

Her brother took her to a hospital in North Carolina.

Sanford is being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center on $60,000 bond.
