"Tagalong" with us, because this story will make you want to "Do si do" your way to the nearest Girl Scout.

Troop 91 out of Little River is on a cookie selling mission to send some of those delicious treats to our troops.

Girl Scout Troop 91 is working on raising enough money to buy 600 boxes of cookies for sailors and marines on the USS New York.

They've teamed up with the VFW Post 10804 Auxiliary to send cookies to each person on the ship.

"That ship was made with the steel from the World Trade Center, so it has a special place in the hearts of all Americans, and I'm hoping we can help them," said Nick Camera, commander of VFW Post 10804.

Ramona Seals was a Girl Scout for 7 years, and so was her daughter, but her connection to Troop 91: her husband is aboard the USS New York.

"He's gonna be Mr. Santa Claus, I think, on the ship handing out all of those boxes to all of those sailors and marines," said Seals.

She says it's nice to "Tagalong" with another troop again.

"They're the future of our country, they're the future. For all of us. We see the news, we see the bad things happening in schools, these are good girls. We need to make sure we give," said Seals.

They are giving "Savannah Smiles" and literal smiles to the troops on the ship, and also to some of the veterans right here at home.

"Watching them interact with our veterans, veterans aren't use to seeing little girls around their post, so having them here has aroused a lot of curiosity, a lot of excitement for the veterans as well as the girls interacting with them," said Cathey Farley, State Chairman of Youth for VFW Auxiliary.

The land of the free and home of the brave, but also home of some ambitious Girl Scouts that are showing their patriotism one cookie at a time.

"I'm really happy to be in this project. My dad was a marine," said one Girl Scout.

In addition to this project, Troop 91 and VFW Post 10804 have teamed up to do Patriotic Rocks. They're little rocks with patriotic paintings as a part of the random acts of patriotism happening across the country. If you find one, it's yours to keep.

The troop is about half way to the 600 cookie goal.

If you'd like to buy cookies from Troop 91 or if you want to make a donation you can write a check payable to Girl Scout Troop 91 with the memo: Girl Scout Cookies. You can send it to VFW Post 10804 111 Highway 57 Little River, SC 29566.
