North Myrtle Beach community comes together; provides over 200 backpacks
North Myrtle Beach, S.C. (WPDE) —
Organizers worked long hours getting sponsors, shopping, and lining up entertainment for the annual Back to School Bash.
A representative with Horry County Parks and Recreation says they have been doing the event in the community for over 7 years.
They give back to the children in Longs, Loris, Wampee, North Myrtle Beach and other surroundings areas.
This year, they went in a different direction and partnered with "Our Voice Our Future" and the North Myrtle Beach Police Department.
The more than 200 backpacks and school supplies were donated by several local business, people from the community, as well as the parks and recreation department.
Organizers say the event could not have been a success without the people within the community.
