North Myrtle Beach bank robbed, suspect arrested

A Columbia man has been arrested after a bank robbery in North Myrtle Beach, according to the police report.

Robert Daniels, 41, is being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

He faces an Armed Robbery charge and and a charge of Entering Bank with Intent to Steal.

North Myrtle Beach police said on Saturday, they responded to the TD Bank at 1801 S. Highway 17 around 12:40 p.m.

A bank employee told officers that an armed robbery had just occurred, according to the report.

The suspect was last seen traveling on Madison Drive.

A witness to the robbery followed the suspect on Madison towards 20th Avenue South.

An officer searched that area and saw Daniels talking on a cell phone.

Police found $3,990 in his pocket and two knives, according to the report.

When officers asked him why he robbed the bank, Daniels said he needed the money.

Daniels is being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on $80,000 bond.
