Joseph Wilson came up one number short in South Carolina's nearly $400 million Powerball jackpot, according to a press release.
The man from Supply, North Carolina bought his lottery ticket at Matties Quick Stop at 513 Sea Mountain Hwy in North Myrtle Beach the day of the drawing for the fourth largest jackpot in Powerball history.
Wilson matched four out of the five white ball numbers and the red Powerball number. He won $40,000.
"I was about ready to drop in the floor," Wilson said.
The odds of winning $40,000 with the purchase of PowerPlay are 1 in 648,976.
For selling the winning ticket, Matties Quick Stop received $400.
