Florence County Council voted Thursday to offer Council Chairman Rusty Smith the position as the new Florence County Administrator.
Smith wasn't at the meeting Thursday morning. It's expected he will accept the position.
Councilmen James Schofield and Roger Poston voted against the motion.
Last week, Thomas Robinson resigned as administrator after 13 months on the job.
Council says Robinson had the credentials. But they were disappointed in his job performance. They say many times Robinson wasn't prepared for council meetings.
The Florence County attorney will negotiate a contract between Smith and the county.
Council says if there's no problems with contract negotiations, Smith will be named the new administrator.
