National Guard doing air defense exercises Thursday over Florence

Thu, 21 Nov 2013 13:57:43 GMT — South Carolina Air National Guard is conducting an air defense routine exercise Thursday morning in the Florence area. Fighter jets assigned to the SCANG's 169th Fighter Wing might be seen escorting a single-engine aircraft belonging to the South Carolina Civil Air Patrol between 9:30 and 11 a.m, according to a release. South Carolina Air National Guard officials said the exercises are carefully planned and closely controlled to ensure the rapid response capability associated with the SCANG's Aerospace Control Alert mission.
