Caitlin Jackson, 27, of Myrtle Beach is being charged with Unlawful Neglect of a Child.
Horry County police officers were called to a home on Brandymill Boulevard in Myrtle Beach on March 22 for an unresponsive t
-month-old infant, according to a police report.
When officers arrived, the grandmother was giving the baby CPR.
EMS workers arrived and gave him CPR as well.
The boy was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The grandmother told officers that she was woken up by her 4-year-old granddaughter. The little girl couldn't wake up her mother Caitlin Jackson, according to the report.
When the grandmother walked into the computer room, she saw Jackson and the baby lying on the ground next to each other. The baby was unresponsive.
Jackson was "incoherent due to a high level of intoxicated state and did not know what had happened," according to the report.
The report adds, officers said Jackson had a "minimal reaction to the situation."
Jackson told officers that she took Xanax and drank alcohol.
Officers said the Xanax pill bottle had just been filled the day before with 60 pills. The bottle had only 32 left.
Jackson was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center Thursday. Police say they had to wait for the toxicology report before they could make an arrest.
She is being held on $10,000 bond.
