Myrtle Beach police investigating after shots fired near 63rd Avenue North
Myrtle Beach, S.C. (WPDE) —
Myrtle Beach police were called to a reported shooting on Wildwood Trail near 63rd Avenue North, according to Lt. Joey Crosby with Myrtle Beach police.
Police were called to the area around noon and Crosby said a man reportedly went out into a yard and fired shots into the air or at the ground.
A man was taken into custody and is being detained until police can determine his involvement, Crosby said.
He said this incident doesn't appear to be directed to anyone.
People in the area were told to stay inside and the roadways were closed off, but everyone has now been allowed to go back to their homes.
Crosby said the man was taken into custody willingly and it took about 30 minutes from the time of the call until the man was detained.
"Shots were fired so we take that call very seriously," he said.
