Brandon A. Peluso, 21, who was arrested in May 2012 by the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office, pleaded guilty to Criminal Solicitation of a Minor earlier this month.
After placing an online advertisement, Peluso communicated over email and text messaging with an individual whom he believed to be a 14-year-old female, according to the South Carolina Attorney General's Office. He was actually communicating with an undercover police officer.
They say he communicated with the person he thought was the girl for several months. He then traveled to meet her and was arrested.
Judge Larry Hyman sentenced Peluso to five years under the Youthful Offender Act, suspended to five years probation and sex offender counseling.
Peluso signed a forfeiture order for his computer equipment and will have to register as a sex offender.
