Myrtle Beach City Council approves redevelopment project on 21st Avenue North
Myrtle Beach, S.C. (WPDE) —
Myrtle Beach City Council has given the initial approval for a redevelopment project on 21st Avenue North that could add new rooms, another public gathering space, and possibly an expansion for the boardwalk.
The redevelopment project is being undertaken by Marriott Hotels.
The company plans to build two new towers, parking lots, and a new check-in space where the Breakers Resort is currently located on Ocean Boulevard by 20th and 21st Avenue North.
Marriott Hotels will also invest $771,900 towards a public space near 21st Avenue North and North Ocean Boulevard.
The builders plan to keep a reserve of any extra money from the project for further boardwalk expansion.
