Myrtle Beach cab driver robbed

A 60-year-old cab driver told police he was robbed on Hemingway Street in Myrtle Beach just after 1:00 a.m. Thursday.

The cab driver said he was sent to White Street to pick up a man, who asked to be taken to Hemingway Street.

The man asked the driver if he had change for $100. The driver said he did not .

Once they arrived at Hemingway Street, the man went into a house for a couple of minutes, then returned to the driver's side of the cab while "fumbling through his pockets," according to the police report.

When the cab driver told the man he was going to leave, he said the man reached into the cab, threw the driver onto the ground, and stole his wallet.

The wallet had the cab driver's license in it, as well as $300.

The driver said the man then walked south on Hemingway Street and turned west onto Vereen Street.

Myrtle Beach police are investigating.
