Myrtle Beach cab driver carjacked

Myrtle Beach police are looking for the person who robbed a cab driver at gunpoint.

Officers were called to the area of 21st Avenue North and Dunbar Street on reports of a carjacking that happened Wednesday after 1:00 a.m.

A 51-year-old cab driver said he was at Broadway at the Beach, when a man asked him to take him to Palmetto Shores, according to the police report.

The victim said he was driving on 21st Avenue North, when the man pulled out a gun and held it to his head.

The man told the victim to stop the car and "give him everything he had," according to the report.

The victim said he emptied his pockets.

The man told the cab driver to open the door. The victim then opened the driver side sliding door.

While still holding the victim at gunpoint, the man pulled the cab driver through the center of the car and told the driver to get out of the vehicle.

The cab driver ran off, and saw his car heading south on Hemingway Street.

He flagged down two pedestrians, and called police from one of their phones.

The man got away with about $100 in cash and two cell phones.

The cab was found shortly after the incident on Broadway Street with no one inside.
