Friday, most of Myrtle Beach's new boardwalk opened.
The oceanfront boardwalk is finished from the 14th Avenue Pier to 4th Avenue North, and plenty of folks were out enjoying a stroll on the boardwalk Friday.
City officials say the contractor finished up a few final items and the city is ready to accept the project.
It didn't take long for the boardwalk to fill up with visitors, like Earlene Southern from Whiteville, NC, and they seem to like it. "Oh, it's just so nice. I've been here before, but just nothing like this. I mean, it's just beautiful. I will be back."
Three blocks of the boardwalk are still under construction and should be ready no later than early June.
The ribbon cutting will be May 15th, during the first-ever beach music festival on Ocean Boulevard.
