"One of our goals was when people arrive on an airplane, we want them to know they're in Myrtle Beach. We want to create an experience for them and for the folks who come and go. We want them to feel like this is their airport and we want them to be proud of it," Myrtle Beach International Airport Spokeswoman Lauren Morris said.
Bubba's Fish Shack and Nacho Hippo, two local favorites of the Divine Dining Group, will be operated by MSE Branded Foods. These restaurants will be placed in the post-security screening area of the new terminal facility. Bubba's Fish Shack is down home coastal cooking that features catch specials, BBQ ribs, sandwiches, burgers, salads and fried seafood. Nacho Hippo has a menu with an international twist on tacos, nachos, quesadillas, frozen drinks and a vast tequila selection.
"Our pre-screening concessions is called Boardwalk CafÃ© and that captures the theme of Myrtle Beach. Boardwalk CafÃ© will be a greatly enhanced as compared to what we currently have. It will be a full service restaurant and a full service bar. There is local design throughout, which again, is our effort to capture the feel and look of Myrtle Beach," Jack Hough, with MSE Branded Foods, said.
Dunkin' Donuts and Steak n' Shake will also be located in the new concourse.
"We brought this concept in because it fits the traveler that we see during the summer season, especially the tourists and it will also be a popular concept for golfers," Hough added six new gates to bring more than 30 jobs to the airport.
MYR's $118 million terminal expansion includes six new gates, a new baggage screening system and additional parking. The new terminal is on schedule to open in January 2013.
