Motorcyclist dies after failing to stop for light

A 34-year-old Longs man was killed after police say he did not stop his motorcycle for a red light and collided with a car Saturday night.

Michael Lamon Jackson was riding his motorcycle on U.S. 17, failed to stop for a red light and hit a car turning right onto the Barefoot Resort Bridge, according to a report release by the City of North Myrtle.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler said Jackson, 34, died from head trauma sustained in the wreck.

Fowler said Jackson was not wearing a helmet and had been living in the Longs area for several months.

The police report from North Myrtle Beach lists Jackson as being from Glen Cove, New York.
