Terena Ann McWhorter, 42, and her son, Joshua Allen Thomas, 23, are charged with several strong armed robberies in North Myrtle Beach and Little River.
North Myrtle Beach police say the mother-son duo worked together to rob people leaving stores.
One victim was leaving her shift at the Walmart on Highway 17, on November 14, when a woman asked her for directions and then stole her purse. The same thing happened to a customer of the Walmart the next day. In both cases, the victims told police the woman then got into a car driven by a man.
McWhorter and Thomas were responsible for those robberies and one at the Food Lion in Little River, according to North Myrtle Beach police.
Police tracked them down after finding the car they were driving.
In addition to charges of Strong Armed Robbery, both face charges of Financial Transaction card theft, because police say they used credit cards from the victims.
Thomas is also charged with Driving Under Suspension.
