Mom accused of leaving 10-month-old in locked car at Florence nightclub

Jessica Tidwell, 28, of Darlington was inside Club Taboo in Florence for nearly two hours while her 10-month-old daughter was inside her locked car outside the club, according to Major Carlos Raines with Florence police.

An anonymous caller phoned 911 to report the child inside the car.

Officers got to the scene and found the baby in the car in a child restraint seat.

They ran a check on the license plate and it came back registered to Tidwell, Raines said.

Officers went inside the nightclub and found Tidwell.

Raines says Tidwell told them her cousin was supposed to be in the car watching her daughter.

They walked Tidwell outside to the car and she again claimed her cousin should have been with her little girl, Raines said.

Tidwell claimed she was only in the club for a few minutes to charge her cell phone battery and look for her baby's father.

Police checked with the club's security officers who say Tidwell had been there for nearly two hours, Raines added.

Officers then charged her with Unlawful Conduct of a Child.

They called the Department of Social Services to place the 10-month-old in emergency custody.

Raines says they located the child's grandmother who came to the nightclub to pick up the child.

He says the grandmother had to change the child's wet and soiled diaper.

Tidwell remains at the Florence County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.
