Memorial held in Myrtle Beach for all firefighters who died in SC this year

Firefighters and their families held their annual memorial Saturday in Myrtle Beach to remember more than 100 firefighters across the state who died this year.

Organizers say the fallen men and women were both active duty and retired firefighters.

The memorial was held at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.

More than 300 people attended Saturday's ceremony.

"It's a great thing that we do for the families to show them our support for them. It's always a great thing to show them our support and to honor our brothers and sisters that have passed away during the previous year," explained Jamie Caggiano, a firefighter who assisted with Saturday's service.

The event is part of 109th South Carolina State Firefighters Association Annual Conference.
