Memorial Day events on the Grand Strand, Pee Dee

Below is a list of Memorial Day events for the Grand Strand, Pee Dee. All of these events will be on Monday, May 27:

Myrtle Beach

*At 11am, you can join the Grand Strand Patriotic Alliance and City of Myrtle Beach for a Memorial Day Ceremony at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center Plaza at 2101 N Oak Street.

*At 3pm, veterans and active-duty military are invited to be guests of honor at the 2nd Annual Myrtle Beach Memorial Day Tribute at Grand 14 Cinemas at The Market Common. You can listen to patriotic music, see a color guard presentation, and watch a screening of the documentary film "Swamp Fox: Francis Marion and the American Revolution." Admission is free to the public, with complimentary popcorn and soft drinks. Seating in the theater is on a first-come first-served basis. The event is sponsored by The Market Common, Grand 14 Cinemas, CCU, the City of Myrtle Beach, Goldfinch Funeral Home, and the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce.

North Myrtle Beach

*At 10:30am, NMB Memorial Gardens will host a service that will include representatives from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #10804, American Legion Post #186, NMB Ladies Auxiliary, Our Lady Star of the Sea #2431 Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, and Grand Strand Blue Star Mothers. You can hear performances by Myrtle Beach Regional Pipe Band, the NMB High School ROTC, and the NMB High School Choir. Entertainment begins at 10:30am. The service starts at 11am.

Surfside Beach

*At 2:30pm, the town will host a service at its Veterans Memorial on Surfside Drive.

Murrells Inlet

*At 9am, the Murrells Inlet VFW Post 10420 will host a flag placement at Belin United Methodist Church at 4183 Hwy 17 Business. A ceremonty will follow the flag placement, as well as food and fellowship at the post at 4359 Highway 17 Bypass.


*At 10am, the Department of Veterans Affairs will host a program at Florence National Cemetery, 803 East National Cemetery Road. The keynote speaker is Major General (R) John B. Grimball. The cemetery will be open to pedestrian traffic only. Parking is available at the SC Dept. of Disabilities and Special Needs at 714 National Cemetery Road.
