The Executive Committee of the Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development Corporation held a special meeting on Wednesday morning to begin the process of searching for a new CEO.
Brad Lofton had been the President and CEO since April 2011, but announced earlier this month that he was leaving and returning home to Georgia.
Executive Committee members created a search committee at Wednesday's meeting, according to Board Chairman Fred Richardson. They could still make minor changes to the committee, Richardson added.
The Search Committee will begin advertising for a new CEO, and eventually narrow the applicants to about five people for interviews, Richardson said. He expects the search to take three months at least.
The Executive Committee did not name an interim CEO, but Richardson said current MBREDC staff will report directly to him for now.
