Police arrested a Myrtle Beach man after they say he sexually assaulted a woman who responded to a modeling job on the internet classified ad website Craigslist.
The man was arrested after the alleged incident about two weeks ago but police say there were at least three other similar incidents dating back to 2005.
Myrtle Beach Police charged 71-year-old Irving Jacob Lebowitz with assault with the intent to commit criminal sexual conduct for an incident that happened on January 19.
Police say that incident happened at Sora's Boutique at 312 Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach, a store that Lebowitz reportedly owns.
Authorities say it was at that store where several other women - ages 18 to 21 - say they were also sexually assaulted by Lebowitz.
According to several separate police reports filed with the MBPD, Lebowitz touched and kissed the women and attempted to perform other inappropriate sexual acts even after each of the women refused.
These women had reportedly responded to advertisements for modeling jobs they saw listed on Craigslist. There is currently an ad on the site soliciting models to Sora's Boutique.
Police stress to be cautious if you're responded to such online ads and to use common sense.
They advise to always call first and ask for references. Also, call the Better Business Bureau. Basically, police stress to do your research.
Also, if you respond to an ad in-person, don't go alone . B ring someone with you so you're not vulnerable.
Police say their investigation into Lebowitz is on-going. They add it's possible there were other incidents, some that may have gone unreported.
They ask that if you had any similar incidents with Lebowitz that you come forward and contact authorities.
If you do have any information you're asked to call Myrtle Beach Police at (843) 918-1913.
