Marion Police officer James Andrew Ellis, 33, is out of jail on bond after being arrested Thursday by the State Law Enforcement Division on charges of Misconduct In Office, according to officials.
He was booked Thursday at J. Reuben Long Detention Center in Horry County and transferred Friday to the Marion County Detention Center where officials say a bond hearing took place for him.
The specifics of Ellis' arrest aren't being released at this time. We expect to learn more when SLED releases arrest warrants.
Marion city officials will release information on Ellis' employment with the department Monday.
This is the second Marion police officer to be arrested in the past three weeks.
The Dillon County Sheriff's Office charged Jason Chadwick Bracey with Criminal Domestic Violence First Offense after they say he assaulted his girlfriend at a Dillon County home December 30.
Marion city officials say Bracey remains on administrative leave without pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
