Marion man sentenced for not registering as a sex offender

United States District Judge Terry Wooten sentenced Carroll Lynn Williams, 36, of Marion, Wednesday to 36 months and five years supervised release for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.

Williams was convicted on October 31, 1997, in Marlboro County, of Committing a Lewd Act on a Minor. Williams registered as a sex offender when he was released from prison and transferred his sex offender registration to Texas when he moved.

In November 2011, Williams returned to South Carolina but failed to change his registration in Texas or register in South Carolina.

Williams was arrested on February 24, 2012, by the United States Marshals Service.
