Marion high school senior shot and killed

Marion police say they have charged

Arthur Foxworth, 17,

with Voluntary Manslaughter in the shooting death of a 17-year-old boy outside a home on Presbyterian Street Sunday afternoon.

The victim has been identified as Bryan Crawford, according to Marion County Coroner Jerry Richardson. The coroner said Crawford died of a single gunshot wound to the head.

Police said Crawford was a senior at Mullins-Marion Christian School.

Marion Police Chief Jim Gray says he can't release many details at this time because investigators are still questioning witnesses to find out what happened.

About 50 people gathered around the crime scene including many of the victim's relatives.

Crawford's cousin Sheryl Phillips said their family is just stunned about what happened. "I'm very shocked because this was a very good young man. He had a promising life ahead of him. He didn't bother anybody. He was just an all around good kid."

She says she can't understand what is going on with all the teenage violence in the Pee Dee.

Crawford hopes the community will come together to address the problem. She explained, "It needs to stop. There are a lot of young men who are losing their lives and basically for no reason at all."

The State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) helped process the crime scene.
